… the thermometer says 7 degrees celsius!
It’s time to start packing for CONASTA 2015 in Perth and I am just not sure if my North Queensland wardrobe will fit the bill. (check the weather forecast here)
CONASTA is a national conference that has an outstanding reputation for offering high quality and stimulating professional learning experiences for science educators. With literally hundreds of workshops to choose from over the four day conference, 6 to 9 July, there are some tough decisions to make. I for one am looking forward to sessions that include:
• building origami microscopes;
• exploring astrophotography;
• climate change discussion; and
• visiting the Gravity Discovery Centre.
The conference also offers an extensive opportunity to forge new friendships with 400 delegates expected, including the six Step-Up ambassadors from Queensland (Karen, Ali, Nick, Shawtima, Natalie and myself [Gay]). However if 7 degrees is not for you, we invite you to experience CONASTA virtually through our Blog. Over the next week the Step-Up team will be your eyes and ears on the ground and report back on a selection of cutting edge science presentations – the inspiring, the wonderful and the wacky (including joke of the day).
I am excited about the next week in Perth. My last visit was over 10 years ago! Speaking of which, now where did I put those ugg boots? I best get back to the packing.
Cheers
Gay
